Damned If You "Boo" And Damned If You Don't

This morning on Air America, Thom Hartmann played an audio clip from FOX news in which the reporter raised the possibility that the California wildfires could be Al Qaeda attacks. She cites alleged testimony from an Al Qaeda-linked detainee who claimed that they were considering as their next wave of terrorism could be starting wildfires in the U.S.
Now, let's set aside for the time being the absurdity of wildfires as a terrorist tactic.
Let's say, for the sake of argument that it was true.
Now FOX news has the uncomfortable task of reporting that the president was unable to protect the citizens of the U.S. from a terrorist attack. They now have to admit that "fighting them over there so we won't have to fight them over here" is a failed policy.
Hop to it FOX. I await your follow up reports.

None The Wise-ah About FISA.

Above: Warblogging FISA expert smiles for the camera.

The Horses Mouth sends what is apparently the horses ass to the glue factory. In other words, right-wing wrongosphere, taking matters into their own paws, proclaim "death by FISA" when the facts - as usual- say otherwise.

The Awesome Surge

Firedoglake takes apart the warbloggers "decline in bloodshed" claims.
It's as easy as looking at the facts.

Fred Thompson Gets The Clap

What Fred Thompson wants, Fred Thompson gets - even if he has to ask for it.
Twenty-four minutes after he began speaking in a small restaurant the other day, Fred Thompson brought his remarks to a close with a nod of his head and an expression of thanks to Iowans for allowing him to “give my thoughts about some things.”

Then he stood face to a face with a silent audience.

“Can I have a round of applause?” Mr. Thompson said, drawing a rustle of clapping and some laughter.

“Well, I had to drag that out of you,” he said.

At least he didn't use the Gonzales method.

Compassionate Conservativism Strikes Again

Eric Alterman has a good post on Bush's plan to abandon the sick children of America.
So this is the point. Bush's argument is explicitly ideological. He wants children to get sick and die in order to prevent what he believes will be a slide toward what he calls "socialized medicine." Conservatives may not wish to claim him anymore, but this speaks to a fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives, and it's not just about letting kids get sick and die.

As the apostate conservative, Kevin Phillips observes, "The Bush Administration is not against big government." What it opposes is merely that "portion of it that regulates business and requires tax increases, against a welfare system. When it's the latter, they're against big government, but when it's big government that takes care of the oil industry or bails out financial institutions or pumps money into the Pentagon, then they tend to be in favor of that."

Hate Is A Disturbing Thing, Isn't It?

Remember, where credibility is concerned, the message alone may not be enough.

Presentation can add so much.
